You had me at hello. All of us had the same reaction: the first time we heard Eddie's playing our heads exploded (I was 12). Hendrix took a bigger leap, but was still rooted in the blues. Eddie was channeling from another galaxy. Closer to Mozart than Clapton. Ya, Mozart. Suck it. Go to Youtube and listen to "Atomic Punk" isolated guitar track. Sublime.
